Dreamweaver CS5 Long “Waiting for server” on uploads

Just recently on CS5 I’ve noticed how annoyingly long it takes to upload to the server, sometimes 30seconds pause before putting files up onto the web server.

There seems to be a really easy solution.

Goto servers > Advanced > Testing Server : Server Model: {SELECT YOUR MODEL}

For me this is PHP MYSQL

I have no idea why this would make any difference to the FTP Performance but, ohmm it does :S

Strange but true!

    This is a great fix for the slow uploads. Thanks for posting this – especially as I use WordPress as a cms for all my websites I design and this usually involves a lot of scattered uploading!

    Great post, thanks

    Hmmm did nothing for me. Still waiting. his must be a Dreamweaver bug. Search for “Waiting for server” and you’ll see many, many people having the same issue.

    Thanks a million!
    That really fixed the issue. I just set up the test server exactly like the “Remote” Server (PHP MySQL, FTP with Passive, no IPV6 mode) and now, finally, i can work the DW FTP (DW CS4)

    Thought it was my Virgin Media Superhub, then thought it was Godaddy and DW CS5, BUT….

    Try choosing “Use Passive FTP” in the “More Options” section of the Remote Server section (Site Definition) –

    this tiny tickbox just totally sorted my life out!! Has been driving me insane!!
