Open > your themes folder > template > common > footer.tpl

And then before

Add this code:

And that’s it – you’re done!

Enjoy 🙂

OpenCart 301 Redirect Not Working SEO Fix ?_route_=

This is a post regarding 301 Redirects with OpenCart and OpenCart 1.5 / 1.5.1

Are you having a problem with your OpenCart SEO? Are you trying to add 301 Redirects?

Are you getting ?_route_= added to the end of your redirects and Error Not Found Message?

There is one fix, that will work, it does however still change the target URL, you have to add an ?, yes a question mark!

Here’s an example of what you’d use for a 301 Redirect in OpenCarts .htaccess file:

Redirect 301 /the-old-file.htm http://www.yourshop.com/your-new-product-url?
or
Redirect 301 /the-old-file.htm http://www.yourshop.com/your-new-product-url/?

I hope this helped you guys out!

Bugs Errors Fix opencart opencart 1.5

Opencart Open Cart 1.5 addModule is not defined *FIX* – cannot add banner etc –

Recently been faced with an issue in OpenCart 1.5.0.5 which seems to affect these versions:
Opencart Version 1.5.0.1, 1.5.0.2, 1.5.0.3, 1.5.0.4, 1.5.0.5

The Error is a Javascript Error, if you don’t use something like FireBug then you will likely not notice the error.

The Erros is this though:
addModule is not defined

The problem this error will cause for certain will be that you cannot make / add new banners to your opencart store, this will affect anything and everything where you have hyphen’s and other special characters – for this reason – remove hyphen’s and special characters from your product options, categories and banner names and so on.

I’ve posted this on the BUG on the OpenCart 1.5.0.5 Bug Thread

Custom Category Templates and CSS in OpenCart 1.5 +

Custom Category Templates and Custom Category CSS for OpenCart relates to the following tested versions:

OpenCart version(s):  1.5.0, 1.5.0.1, 1.5.0.2, 1.5.0.3, 1.5.0.4, 1.5.0.5

> Newly tested on OpenCart 1.5.1.1 and works

This was tested today on OpenCart v 1.5.0.5 today and was working flawlessly.

Ever wanted to have a custom category template (hard coded elements) On certain categories – or to totally change the layout completely?  Or maybe you’d just like different CSS?

These instructions relate to the default theme of OpenCart but should work for any theme provided you change the default bit with the themes name!

Open: catalog/controller/product/category.php

Find (Line 329):

if (file_exists(DIR_TEMPLATE . $this->config->get('config_template') . '/template/product/category.tpl')) {
$this->template = $this->config->get('config_template') . '/template/product/category.tpl';
} else {
$this->template = 'default/template/product/category.tpl';
}

Replace With:

//start custom category design by ItsAdam.co.uk
if (file_exists(DIR_TEMPLATE . $this->config->get('config_template') . '/template/product/category.tpl')) {
if ($category_id == 1) { //Category 1
$this->template = $this->config->get('config_template') . '/template/product/category1.tpl';
} elseif ($category_id == 2) { //Category 2
$this->template = $this->config->get('config_template') . '/template/product/category2.tpl';
} elseif ($category_id == 3) { //Category 3
$this->template = $this->config->get('config_template') . '/template/product/category3.tpl';
} elseif ($category_id == 4) { //Category 4
$this->template = $this->config->get('config_template') . '/template/product/category4.tpl';
} else { //default
$this->template = $this->config->get('config_template') . '/template/product/category.tpl';
}
} else {
$this->template = 'default/template/product/category.tpl';
}
//end custom category design

For our new custom categories we will need to create the templates so that they’re viewable and custom.

Find: catalog/view/theme/product/category.tpl

And duplicate it and name it inline with the naming in the above code, ie category1.tpl etc etc

Opencart 1.5 SEO URL htaccess fix 500 Internal Server Error

Have you upgraded to Opencart 1.5

Versions: v1.5.0.3 v1.5.0.2 v1.5.0.1 v1.5.0

I had problems getting the SEO Friendly URLS to work on my Opencart 1.5.0.3 install, after looking in the HTACCESS file I found this:

RewriteBase /opencart/upload/

The fix to make the SEO Friendly URLS – MOD REWRITE work change that line to:

RewriteBase /

Basically just remove the opencart/upload/  part!

There we go! Problem Solved!” 🙂

Alternatively if you’re unsure about editing files, simply upload the .htaccess file saved here, tested on the OpenCart versions 1.5.0.3 and below:

> Download the fixed .htaccess file
